Makeup Review: Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Brightener

Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Brightener - Boots - £9.99

Hey guys, so I have been on a mission for a while to find an eye primer that actually works, I have been through so many that I just wish I never spent my money on, so when I picked up the Revlon Photoready Eye Primer, I didn't have high hopes although I love the Revlon Photoready Foundation. I had heard lots of reviews about the Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion, however I was looking more for a drugstore alternative that was just as good.

Price: £9.99 from Boots in store or www.boots.com

Packaging: I love the idea of the mini brush applicator attached to the tube of primer, however it can sometimes be a little tricky as it is definitely not a product you should be applying too much of. I personally don't use the applicator for blending the product in, however it is a lovely and helpful way of applying it to your skin. I also love the shape of the packaging as it is the perfect size to fit in my make up bag and doesn't take up as much room as other primers.

Does it work?: Yes. I can say that without a doubt, for me this product is perfect. It fits perfectly to the shade of my skin whilst providing a great base for my eye-shadow and brightening my eyes. My eye make up lasts so much longer now that I am using this product and it is so perfect for defining and bringing out my eyes.

Is it similar to any other products?: As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I have been looking into buying one of the Urban Decay Primer Potions ever since I was given a sample of it from a friend. However, due to the fact that I am usually on a budget, I just can't convince myself. When I tried the Revlon Photoready Eye Primer however, I found that it works just as well as the Urban Decay Primer Potion and it also brightens and defines the eyes more than the Primer Potion. Therefore I would say that it is a perfect dupe for the Primer Potion and of course at a fraction of the price.

Celebrity Style - Selena Gomez 2014

Hey guys so today I really wanted to write a blog post because I have got so many amazing ideas and I really want to start writing them, but I am currently trying to sort and organize my whole bedroom including make-up, clothes.. everything, and it is taking so long. So I ended up spending pretty much all day today doing that, but I have stopped for the night now, so I made a nice mocha, lit my fave candle, which is currently the Yankee Candle Christmas Treats (so what if it's not Christmas yet?) and sat down to do a blog post for you all:)

I have been wanting to write this post for soooo long and I will probably be continuing this and doing a celebrity style series. I really loved this outfit on Selena Gomez from January 2014, because it is something slightly different to what she usually wears, but everything goes together so perfectly. I did some research and have found some great dupes for the clothes she is wearing here. If you want to know more keep reading:)

Life Update - CRAZY FEW WEEKS!

Hey Guys, I literally feel like I haven't blogged in so long, even though it has only been about two days I think...I'm really missing it! I'm probably going to be doing a lot more now but today I just thought I would do a quick update on what's been going on and all that jazz. So the main reason I haven't been blogging as much the past 2 weeks, is because my car theory test was yesterday and I have been pretty much none stop revising for weeks, but it clearly paid off because I passed my test. YAY, just the actual driving test now and then I can get a car... that's if I can afford the extortionate insurance fees anyway. Also I have had quite a few job interviews and finally I got my AS Level results on Thursday, so that was a crazzzzy day! I mean AS levels aren't as significantly live changing as A Level's but it's still stressful and nerve racking. But they were successful so it's all good. I'm going to be doing a post soon specifically about college and what to do if you didn't get the passes you wanted and what options you have etc. You may have already had this discussion with parents or teachers, but hearing it from someone your own age can sometimes be a lot easier. So yeah, it's been a mental few weeks to say the least, but life has more or less settled down now, so we are good to go. I don't know if I will be blogging everyday, but I might do, just until I go back to college in September and then I probably won't blog as much because I will be studying most of the time.

So yeah, there's just a quick life update to explain why I haven't been blogging as much and to let you all know what's been going on. I have a few blog ideas lined up, but let me know if there is anything you would like me to write about. I'm thinking of doing a lot more advice blogs such as the Relationships post I did last month, because I really enjoy writing them and feeling like maybe I'm helping some of you out if you have any issues:)

Thanks for reading....

Mini Beauty and Home-Ware Haul!

Today I decided to share with you all my most recent purchases. Actually I bought it all yesterday, but you know, it's been AGES since I went shopping! *nose grows like Pinocchio*  Anyway, I decided to show you what I bought, because I'm super nosey and absolutely love reading haul posts, just to see what people buy! While I was out I went to Boots, Superdrug, ASDA and some random stationary shop. The first place I went to was Boots where I bought two new lipsticks from the Collection Lasting Colour collection, one in the shade 12 - Valentine, a strong, but light red and the other in 1 - Queen of Hearts, which is a much darker red, with slightly purple undertones. Next I bought the Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Brightener in the shade 003. I love the applicator on this, but I have never used it, so keep your eyes peeled for a review! Next up is the Soap and Glory A Brush With Greatness Cleansing and Massage Brush. This does a similar job to the Clarisonic, except it is a lot cheaper and also doesn't have to be charged...obviously:) I also bought the Collection Work the Colour Brow Kit and finally the Seventeen Instant Glow Bronzing Powder in Medium Bronze.

The next shop I went in was Superdrug, but I didn't buy as much in there as I was in a slight rush by that point. The first thing I bought was the Maybelline New York Big Eyes Rebel Black Mascara, which has a smaller mascara wand on one end for lower lashes, which I love! Then I kind of knew I had to pick up a new blending brush because my old one is losing most of it's hairs, so I just picked up the Superdrug's own blending brush, which comes in a pink packet if your looking to buy it. Then, due to all the hype around this brand I decided to pick up something from the collection and that is the B. B. Ready Day Cream. I will definitely do a review on this and I am seriously hoping it works for me, as I have been on the hunt for a new favourite day cream. I also picked up some Superdrug Cleansing Facial Wipes for Normal Skin

I then decided to pop in a random stationary shop to pick up a new notebook, specifically for blogging notes and a new diary. Then I stopped off at ASDA and found that they have brought out the Yankee Candle Simply Home Christmas Candles... I NEARLY DIED. Christmas candles are literally one of my favourite things about Christmas. Luckily, I managed to restrain myself...in the end, and only bought three mini candles, but I will probably end up going back and splurging when Christmas gets a little closer. But now I'm all excited for Christmas, might have to do a countdown at the end of all my blog posts from now on:)

I know this was a super long post, I didn't mean to ramble as much as I did, but I do like to vary the length of my posts sometimes, because sometimes I don't get to provide as much info as I would like too in my smaller blogs.

Rainy Day Dog Walks!

So, recently I decided I was going to be a lot healthier and as well as eating healthy I was going to start fitting in more exercise. I'm making the most of the fact that I have a dog, by taking her for long countryside walks which benefits me as much as her. Where I live, there are so many places to walk the dog where there are lovely views, so I'm sure I will be writing about more of our walks in the near future. Buttons is loving these walks as you can see!

As you can see this particular walk was on a very rainy day, however I knew I had to kick my bum into gear and get out and about. But the good thing is I love splashing in puddles and so does Buttons...so it's all good. We walked up on the hills near my house, where there used to be a coal mine and there are some amazing things left behind from the past.

The views from the top of the hills are so amazing... you can see so far:)

As you can see, Buttons loved running up and down the hills after her ball.

This might be really difficult to see, but these are long pot pipes leftover from when the coal mine was there. There are quite a few things like this left, there are a lot of pieces of pottery left around that mix in with the stones. I don't know why I find this so interesting, but it sort of provides a history to the area I live in, which is cool.

We both enjoyed the dog walk and it made me feel so much better and healthier, even if this is only the beginning. But even if you don't have a dog you can still do things like this and you can count how many calories your burning with the app - MapMyWalk.

Thank you for reading my lovelies:)

Kim Kardashian Inspired Makeup Look!

So today I thought I would do something slightly different and do an actual makeup look/tutorial, because I realized I haven't actually done anything like that yet. One thing I will mention before we begin is that in these photos I used natural light and no studio lighting, which means I might not look my best...but fingers crossed. Also, no hating please guys, I just think it's so pointless...just be nice or say nothing at all:) Of course, I don't actually look like Kim K (god knows I wish I did), but I tried my best!

So here is the look I achieved, I was going to use some false eyelashes and darker red lipstick, however when I came to do this look I realized that I had run out of both of these things. For my face I used the Seventeen Stay Time Long Wear Primer, Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer, Max Factor Créme Puff Powder and Avon Glow Bronzer in Medium and MAC Blusher in Peaches. I used the concealer to highlight the bridge of my nose and underneath my eyes, as Kim does have very highlighted skin. For contouring I used the MAC blusher and also the Avon Glow Bronzer. I didn't want the contouring to be too strong, however I still wanted it to be visible. I also used the bronzer to slim my nose down slightly on both sides of my nose.

For my eyes and brows I used the Studio London Palette Bronzed Beauty, as Kim's eyes are usually quite smoky, yet subdued, she doesn't usually use any bright colours and her main eye shadow colours are bronzed, neutral shades. I used the shade Smooth Mocha, which is a rich brown on my upper lash line, Burnished Bronze on my eyelid, Precious Gold on my crease and Toasted Almond, the lightest shade just below my brow line. I also used the No7 Stay Precise Liquid Liner in my inner corner and upper lash line and blended it out. On my lower lash line I used a MAC Eye shadow in Carbon. For mascara I used the Body Collection Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara. For my brows I used a MAC eye shadow in Carbon again and the Bobbi Brown Brow Pencil in Brunette.

For my lips I simply used my Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick in Roasted Red and my MAC lip liner in Redd (that is the name of a colour for those who don't know, not just a typo:))

And that my friends is my completed Kim Kardashian Makeup Inspired Look. I'm not sure I have done it justice but hopefully my next celebrity inspired look will come out slightly better with a little more practice. Also I kept getting distracted when I was doing this makeup as I was watching Tanya Burr's YouTube videos, which are literally the bomb!! Hope you enjoyed this, leave any comments with other celeb makeup styles you would like me to do and hopefully the next one will be a little better, when I actually have all of the products I need.

Thanks for reading...

The Furry Friend Tag!

Hey guys, this a blog post that I have been wanting to do for a while, since I first heard about it on BeautyBySiena's youtube channel! The furry friend tag is basically me answering a bunch of questions about my beautiful best friend Buttons!

Questions:)

1. What is your pet's name?
Her name is Buttons, named after Jenson Button the F1 racing driver and also chocolate buttons because she is a chocolate labrador!

2. What kind of pet is it and what breed?
Well, she's a dog and she is a chocolate labrador pedigree and I would tell you her kennel club proper name, but it's so confusing even I don't remember it!

3. How long have you had your pet?
Well we saw her like the day after she was born and we saw all of her brothers and sisters too, but we have actually owned her for 3 and 1/2 years because she has to stay with mummy for a few months if I remember correctly.

4. How did you get your pet?
We previously had a basset hound, who sadly died about 12 months before we got Buttons, but by the time we went to see Buttons we had decided we were ready to get another dog, as our whole family loves dogs. My mum's friend from work had a pedigree dog who she was breeding, and so when they were born we just had to go and see them. She was the cutest of them all, even if she did keep falling over when her brothers and sisters were running around. She loved cuddles and still does and we just fell in love!

5. How old is your pet?
She is 4 years old and turns 4 and 1/2 in 2 months:)

6. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?
Now, there are so many things I could say to this question so I will just name a few. Buttons never actually grew out of the licking stage and at 4 she will still lick EVERYONE, whether they want her too or not. Also, she likes to think she's still a puppy and jumps on the sofa or my bed every now and then for snuggles and to watch tv with me. She also gets cute little blonde highlights on the top of her head when she's been out in the sun too long. Last thing now... she has a Beyoncé bum and when she walks it sways around like she's shaking her bum at everyone!

7. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?
To be honest, I don't actually know what I would do without her, she's my best friend and I literally couldn't love her anymore than I do. I have always loved animals and also have a rabbit and a cat, but if I'm allowed to say this, Buttons is definitely my favourite. Don't get me wrong I love my other animals, but dogs are more loyal and loving. Also, she's always there to give me a cuddle when I'm feeling down and always runs up to you and kisses you and jumps on you if you cry! (not that I cry THAT much:))

8. What are some of your favourite memories with your pet?
To name a few...
Running on the beach in Wales and splashing about in the sea, long walks around Lake Windermere in the Lake District, on a boat in the Norfolk Broads and Buttons wanted to jump overboard because she LOVES water! Watching the fireworks on New Year's Eve, because she literally loves them which is a surprise. Morning walks to see all of her doggy friends at 7am, every weekday... not sure how much I love that part! Walking around Hollingworth Lake in Manchester early in the morning when nobody is around so she can have a swim without jumping up at everyone! Now that is just a few:)

9. What nicknames do you call your pet?
Baba Buttons, Butt Butts, My little princess.

So, that's all for the Furry Friend Tag, thanks for reading and lots of love from Maddie and Buttons!

Healthy Dinner and Yummy Drink!

Hi guys, sorry I haven't posted anything in two days, I've actually missed writing on my blog so much! I have been super busy and just couldn't find the time and didn't really want to rush a blog post because it wouldn't be as good. So, I thought I would write a random lifestyle blog post today because I wanted to tell you all about my super healthy dinner!

This morning I had a crumpet for my breakfast and therefore I fancied something fruity for my dinner so I made hot lemon water with a spoonful of sugar, diced apple and an orange. It was so nice and I instantly felt the benefits after my week of unhealthy eating.

The hot lemon water is so good for you, not only for your digestive system but also for your skin. Also, if you add a little bit of sugar it doesn't taste as sour. I just thought I would share it all with you and maybe give you a few tips on a healthy dinner for yourselves.

Thanks for reading!!

11 Super Amazing (or not) facts about Moi!

1. I absolutely love swimming, when I was little I had two lessons every week and even won some awards and certificates:)
2. At one point I took up dancing, I think I was about 8 and really didn't enjoy it, however won the gold certificate for best dancer out of a class of 35. However I gave it up a month later.

7. I am scared of heights...a lot!
8. I have an obsession with coffee, especially Starbucks.
9. I love writing stories and basically just writing in general, which I think is what made me want to start a blog. However, it all started when I was little and loved making up extravagant stories!
10. I love cheese!
11. I love reading... from novels to poems, anything!!

11 Superb Questions asked by Kartonia!

If you could live in any book (or film) which one would it be?
This is a toughie, I think I would have to say any book from the Harry Potter series or failing that a book I read a lot by Enid Blyton when I was younger which was a series about a group of girls at a boarding school and that was called St Clare's.

What's the one thing (excluding family and friends) that you couldn't live                                                                                    without?
For this question, as materialistic as this might sound I would have to say my phone, because it has all my contact numbers on it so it's great in an emergency, I have all my appointments etc on my calendar, all my photos...just everything! Although if I had to I probably could live without it, but it would be hard.

                                                                       Tea or coffee?
For definite it's coffee, I do drink Chamomile tea from time to time but only usually before bed or when I'm not feeling so great and having a sick day.

If you were invited aboard the Tardis for one trip, where would you chose to                                                                                    go?
Now this one was actually really easy, because I always tells people that I believe I was born in the wrong era, I can imagine myself living in the Victorian or Tudor era very easily. Therefore I would probably go to my home town of Manchester during one of those era's and if I liked it I would run away and stay:)

   What would be your superpower?
I believe my superpower would be reading people's thoughts/minds, because people say I'm pretty good at that anyway and also because I'm super nosey!!

How would you classify your style?
I wouldn't classify my style as super girly, but then I wouldn't say I'm a tomboy either, I sort of float perfectly between the two and sometimes I go more girly, for special occasions and sometimes I go for more of a tomboy look for chill out days.
How long does it take you to get ready in the mornings?
This depends on what sort of day I'm having, but on the average, work or college day it takes me just over an hour to get ready. However, I usually forget to do a lot of stuff and end up responding to e-mails whilst doing my makeup on the bus or train. So, maybe I should spend longer getting ready.

How long does it take you to get ready for a night out?

This takes a lot longer than a normal day because my hair takes a lot of taming and usually on a normal day if it is wild I will pop it all in a neat bun, however I like being adventurous on night's out. Unfortunately, this means I spend about 2 - 3 hours getting ready for a night out. Not as bad as some people.

    Lipstick or Lip Gloss?
Lipstick, no question about it, I have never been a lip gloss lover.

    Peep toe heels or closed?
Closed, because feet make me feel all funny, I really don't like feet, even my own and I especially don't like toes so peep toes are literally a huge no no for me:)

What song can you not stop listening to right now?
I would have to say Tove Lo - Habits (Stay High), the beat is just so catchy even if the song meaning is slightly risky.

Now I nominate these people listed below for the Liebster Award:

And here are my questions for you...

If you could buy one thing in the whole world what would it be?
Would you rather read a book or watch a film?
How long does your daily makeup routine take?
Why did you decide to start blogging?
    Favourite film?
Who is your favourite blogger or youtuber?
    Favourite makeup brand?
    Bargain hunter or big spender?
    Favourite sweets/candy?
    Favourite season of the year?
    Biggest pet peeve?

    July Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites!

Today I am going to share with you all my favourites from the lovely month of July:) To be honest I can't actually believe how quickly August has come around, it seems like just yesterday it was Christmas. This year has been so mental!

My first favourite this month has been the Botanicals Rustic Pillar Candle Medium in Seafoam and Gorse - £3.50 from Tesco Direct. This candle smells so good and even makes the room smell lovely when it's not even burning. Amazing. The scent reminds me of mens aftershave but slightly more subdued if that makes any sense whatsoever. It just smells so fresh. I also believe it looks adorable.

My second favourite this month has been the Febreze Sleep Serenity Bedroom Mist in Warm Milk and Honey. This product can be purchased from most supermarkets but also from Amazon. I didn't hold out much hope for this as most natural sleep enhancing products don't work for me. However, this air freshener really helps me to sleep, I just spray it before I go to bed and it makes my room feel so cosy.

Next up is the L'Occitane En Provence Subtle Violet Hand Cream, which unfortunately I really struggled to find when I looked for it on the internet. I know that it is sold on Ebay, however I'm not sure if it has been discontinued on the L'Occitane website. However, the hand cream is one of my absolute faves so I hope it hasn't. The scent isn't too overpowering, yet it still smells fresh and summery. I really enjoy using this product in summer as it feels really light on the skin and isn't too thick.

Another favourite of mine from this month is the Burt's Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter, which is stocked at Boots, Feel Unique and Amazon, however at the moment it is cheapest at Boots. This lip balm is perfect for the stifling weather we have had in Britain these past few weeks, as it stops your lips from drying out and feels so refreshing. Also it has the highest amount of staying power out of all lip balms I have tried.

My favourite lipstick/lipgloss of this month has to be Maybelline New York Baby Lips in Peach Kiss. The reason for this being my favourite lipstick in the summer is because it is a neutral colour which I much prefer in the Summer to the dark red and purple shades. Also the Baby Lips feels quite moisturising when it's on your lips.

Finally, my last favourite of the month is a makeup bag staple which I love love love.  It is the Soap and Glory Feel Good Factor Translucent BB Cream with SPF 25. The main reason for my love for this product in summer is due to the SPF levels as sometimes I will just apply this and leave without applying any other makeup products. However, in summer my skin gets a lot more oily and this product stops this from affecting my makeup application.

Thank you for reading this post, what have been your favourites of the month?
